How to Apply Epoxy Moisture Vapor Barrier Primer?

Step-by-Step Application Guide for Damp Concrete Floors

JinHua's Epoxy Moisture Vapor Barrier Primer is designed for moisture protection and substrate preparation on damp concrete floors. Follow these four simple steps to achieve effective concrete sealing, strong adhesion, and a reliable moisture-resistant foundation for subsequent epoxy flooring systems.

Step 1: Concrete Surface Preparation

Grind the concrete surface to remove dust, oil, loose particles, and weak or damaged layers. Ensure the substrate is clean and free of standing water. The primer can be applied to properly prepared damp concrete with moisture content up to 10%.

Step 2: Mix Epoxy Resin and Hardener

Combine Component A (Epoxy Resin) and Component B (Hardener) at a 2:1 mixing ratio by volume. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is completely uniform. Use the prepared mixture within approximately 20 minutes at 20°C.

Step 3: Apply the Moisture Barrier Primer

Apply the mixed epoxy primer evenly to the concrete surface using a roller, scraper, or suitable spray equipment. Ensure complete coverage to seal concrete pores and help block moisture vapor transmission. For loose or highly porous substrates, two coats may be required.

Step 4: Allow Curing & Apply Subsequent Coatings

Allow the epoxy moisture barrier primer to cure until the surface is dry and tack-free before applying compatible epoxy mortar, putty, or floor coatings. At 20°C, the primer typically becomes surface-dry in 8–10 hours, with full curing requiring at least 36 hours.

Caution

1. The operating environment should be ventilate and should keep away from fire. Closely sealed after use.

2. Avoid eye contact, in case of contact, wash with plenty of water and get medical attention immediately.

3. If contact skin, wrap with clean cloth or paper, and wash it with water and soap.

4. Keep away from children.

5. Please take a trial before application to avoid usage mistake.

Storage And Shelf Life

1. Store at the temperature of 25°C or cool and dry place. Avoid from sunlight, high temperature or high humidity environment.

2. Use up as soon as possible when opened. It is strictly forbidden to expose to the air for a long time after it is opened to avoid affecting the quality of the products. The shelf life is 12 months in the room temperature of 25°C.
